History of Flos

Flos was founded in 1962 in Merano, Italy and produced modern lighting.The goal was to develop new lighting concepts and in doing so, they enlisted the aid of Achille Castiglioni, Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Tobia Scarpa. 

In the early 60’s Sergio Gandini united with the firm, and the headquarters relocated to a new site near Brescia. The first Flos retail store opened in Milan in 1968 and was designed by the Castiglioni brothers (Achille and Pier Giacomo), The company logo was designed by Pino Tovaglia and the catalogues by Max Huber.
